GENERAL

At GLG Immigration Consulting Services, we recognize the importance of privacy and of safeguarding personal information in our possession. This Privacy Policy sets out how the personal information of clients and potential clients is collected, used, disclosed and protected.

We are committed to collecting, using and disclosing your personal information only to the extent needed to serve you better and manage operations. In providing our consulting services and operating our firm, personal information is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with applicable law and consistent with professional obligations.  As a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, we have a professional obligation to keep confidential all information we receive.

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
We may collect Personal Information to determine whether we will enter into a professional relationship; determine your eligibility in a particular federal or provincial immigration program, pathway or stream; in the course of a professional relationship, or when we otherwise collect Personal Information, for example, when you provide us with information about yourself, or someone else associated with your need for our services. We hold this information in strict confidence and do not reveal it to anyone unless expressly or implicitly authorized by the person or organization concerned or where permitted or required by applicable law.

During course of our relationship with you, GLG Immigration Consulting Services will need to collect, use, and sometimes disclose different types of Personal Information for various purposes associated with the services we provide as directed by you or your organization. Given the nature of our services, it is impractical to list all of types of Personal Information that may be collected, used or disclosed. However, the Personal Information we collect may include:

  • your full name;

  • contact information, such as your address, telephone number, e-mail address, or job titles;

  • information to help establish your identity;

  • medical and criminal records;

  • information regarding your requirements, situation, and interests;

  • information regarding your organization or other organizations, including information regarding directors, officers, or employees of our clients or other parties, witnesses, beneficiaries, adverse parties, related parties, parties in interest, business partners, investors, shareholders, security holders, buyers, sellers, business partners, and customers of clients;

  • your payment information; and

  • any other Personal Information that you voluntarily choose to provide to us.
     

In some cases, we collect Personal Information from third parties such as clients to whom we provide services, regulatory and legal authorities, other organizations with whom we or you have dealings, such as government agencies, recruitment agencies, information or service providers, and from publicly available records. We may also collect information from public sources in the context of an investigation or proceedings related to the immigration consulting services we are providing to one of our clients.
 

HOW DO WE USE AND DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION?​​

GLG Immigration Consulting Services uses and discloses Personal Information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Under no circumstances will we sell any Personal Information we have obtained.

GLG Immigration Consulting Services may use and disclose Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • Establishing your identity;

  • Billing. This will include the collection, use and disclosure of names, addresses, banking, financial details and/or payment information;

  • Internal record keeping and to analyze and help us manage the provision of our services;

  • Answering your questions and/or providing you with information or materials you have asked to receive;

  • To keep your information and preferences accurate. For example, from time to time, we may ask you (by email or otherwise) to review your contact details and mailing list preferences and update them as necessary;

  • To meet our high quality and professional standards, and to obtain and maintain certification and accreditations which may involve audits of our internal processes;

  • To ensure regulatory compliance - for example to conduct conflict checks before we start work and to erect information barriers to restrict access to certain information;

  • To detect help prevent fraud or other illegal activities;

  • To meet our insurance requirements;

  • Any purpose which is permitted or required by applicable law; and

  • To carry out any other purpose which is disclosed to you and to which you consent.

  • To detect and protect against error, negligence, breach of contract, fraud, theft and other illegal activity, and where necessary to meet insurance requirements;


CONSENT

We collect, use and disclose your personal information with your consent or as permitted or required by law.  Your consent may be express or implied depending on the circumstances or the sensitivity of the information involved.  In most cases, your consent may be implied by the fact that you engage GLG Immigration Consulting Services to provide immigration consulting services to you, where the collection, use or disclosure relates to the performance of those services.

We assume that an individual has consented to the reasonable collection and use of personal information consistent with the purpose for which the information was given, when the individual voluntarily provides personal information to us.

We also assume that clients who retain GLG Immigration Consulting Services, or individuals involved in proceedings or matters opposite or adverse to our clients, consent to the reasonable collection, use and disclosure of their personal information by GLG Immigration Consulting Services for purposes of representation or provision of professional advice to our clients and the conduct of the transactions or proceedings involving our clients.

If you do not consent, please do not provide your personal information. You may refuse to consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information, or you may withdraw your consent to the further collection, use and disclosure of information about you by contacting us at info@glgimmigration.com. Note that if you withdraw your consent, it may impact our ability to serve you and to maintain our relationship.

SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We protect the personal information in our files and records from loss, misuse and unauthorized access and modification by using physically secure premises, password protection, standard security practices and tools, and internal policies and practices.

E-MAIL

Note that no transmission over the internet or by electronic mail can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, we cannot ensure that any information transmitted to us electronically will always be protected. You should be aware of this when contacting us to send personal or confidential information.

WEBSITE

As most websites do, we may monitor traffic patterns, site usage and related site information to optimize our web service. We do not use cookies or any electronic means to automatically collect personal information from you or your computer; however, we use web servers that will automatically collect Internet Service Provider address, date and time of your visit and the pages visited.  We may use this information to optimize our web service.
